Parking, Hotel, and Registration Information

All conference activities will be held at Blocker Building on the campus of Texas A&M University.

Parking

  • Free parking is included with all hotel reservations. The Northside Garage (NSG) is located directly across from the Blocker Building (BLOC) and has space for visitor parking for a small fee. No permit is required in unrestricted or plain marked spaces in Lots 47, 54, and 51 on Saturday and Sunday; see the interactive map for locations.
  • Note that the conference cannot reimburse for parking, but we encourage you to retain a receipt for reimbursement through your home institution.

Hotel

Hotel reservations for registered participants who receive financial support will be arranged and billed through the Mathematics Department. Details of your reservation will be sent to the provided email address at least one week prior to the conference. For reimbursement paper work at registration: all non-US participants must bring a Passport or Visa. Supported participants will be housed at one of the following hotels: The George and the Cavalry Court are in the new Century Square dining and shopping center and all hotels are within walking distance to Blocker. Graduate and undergraduate students should expect to share a room.

If you are not receiving financial support from the conference, you can stay in any hotel in town. Below are some hotels that are within walking distance to the conference site. Please check the rate and availability with the hotels directly.

Registration

  • Everyone is welcome to participate and will be considered for support, with priority given to students and early career participants. There are no registration fees, however, we request that all participants register.
  • The last day to register with funding is December 13, 2020. The last day to register (without any funding guaranteed) is January 17, 2020.

About TWIMS

Texas Women In Mathematics Symposium is a two-day conference for Texas mathematicians. The goal of TWIMS is to strengthen the network of women, gender minorities, and allies in Texas working in mathematics, which will encourage collaborations and mentoring relationships.

In addition, participants have the opportunity to:
  • Learn about the research of other women in Texas
  • Present their work in a supportive environment
  • Network with other Texas women mathematicians
  • Explore issues surrounding being an underrepresented group in mathematics
